We are off to a great week in 4.2!
In our morning meeting, we have been memorizing a poem about the word "Yet!" We are learning that knowledge takes time and effort. Last Friday, we began our study of the Seven Habits of Happy Kids by Sean Covey. The First Habit is: "Be Productive: I'm in charge of me!"
In Daily 5, we are working on identifying types of sentences. We classify them by "DIME: Declarative, Interrogative, Imperative, and Exclamatory" We also began reading Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing by Judy Bloom. (The Link has an audio of chapters 1-4)
In Spelling, we took our pretest and will test on FRIDAY!
In Bible, we are talking about creation, Abraham, and Jacob/Esau this week. We've discussed God's glory in creation and his GRACE for sending Jesus. We have also been prayer & scripture journaling. We sang some wonderful songs in chapel today. MOVE! & Oceans.
In Social Studies, we are talking about MAPS!!!! The link (Maps) is an excellent resource from the publisher of our text. Today, we plugged in coordinates on Google to find Okinawa. We looked at Google Maps to find new places. We looked at Longitude and Latitude lines as we sang a new latitude and longitude song.
In Math, we reviewed our Chapter 1 test. Students were given the chance to correct mistakes for mastery. Students took Chapter 2 pretest. We will being talking about properties of addition as we enter into multi digit addition and subtraction.
Wednesday is Library and Music! Thursday is Art. Friday is computer, spelling test, & reading log turn-in. There will be NO SCHOOL Monday the 18th and the Field Trip is Friday the 22nd!
Students have worked so hard to earn five "Sellos" or "Compliments" as they walk in the halls, so they will vote on a class treat. WAY TO GO 4.2!!!!!
I want to thank all of you for the hard work you put in with your students. I appreciate you checking and signing Friday Folders this week.
If you are interested in the Field Trip on September 22 or have any change of plans, please let me know. We'd LOVE to have you and it is FREE for parents!
